Up and realise check outs at 10 and we've been played. The hostel didn't extend us by another night so we need to shift. A 1 minute walk in normal conditions will take about 10 mins given the altitude.
Check in isn't till 11 at the new gaff so kick back on the roof top, have a natter with some native travellers. Unbelievable views of the city. It really is an amazing place, the only issue is food hasn't bee great and the sales people are relentless. Need them to ease up a tad.
Chilled and head over to the new place. Difficult walk but all good. Check in, rooms ready so we all good. Drop the bags and head over to Machu Pichu reservations to book our trek. 3 nights, 4 days in the mountains, the jungles, seeing all sorts and ultimately ending with Machu Pichu. Given we've booked it last minute we won't get to do the best tour of Pichu but Pichu will be toured nonetheless.
All booked and all golden. Realise we need some warmish clothes and head off on the hunt. Popcorn, caju and some fruit later we're still looking for what we need. Few more hours pass, couple of scuffles and we're golden got what we need, bar some toilet paper. That should be relatively easy to source.
Have a little nibble, great grilled chicken sandwich and a decent garlicky pasta. Head back to the hostel to kick back for a few before having to get to Machu Pichu reservations for our induction ahead of the trek tomorrow. Chill for a bit and head back out.
Get in, sign the waiver that if death occurs no one is liable. Great news. Get given a duffle bag each that we can load 6kg worth of shit into for the next few days. That and a day bag and it should a be good. Anyway induction done and we're told 4am start tomorrow.
Walk about a bit, pick up a few essentials and non essentials then have dinner at Andean Grill. Really wanted chicken but saw something out if the ordinary. Not anything I'd seen before. Alpaca meat. Had to nose dive. A cross between duck and venison is what I'd say but takes on more flavour and is a bit lighter to eat. Great meat and one I'd eat again. Also had some chicken skewers. Really well cooked and flavoured.
Few more non essentials sought before residing to an ice cold hostel with no thermostat in sight. Struggle of an evening but perfect prep.
